Zagat-rated as Excellent for both food and service, “real-deal Italian served with flair and finesse does not disappoint at this unpretentious Miami Beach mainstay owned and operated by a father-daughter team [Luis and Jessica Fuentes] who are always cheerfully welcoming.”
A local favorite, Cafe Avanti’s 732 West 41st Street Mid-Beach location (between Chase and Prairie on Arthur Godfrey Road) offers a cozy atmosphere with wooden floors, exposed brick walls and plenty of parking. Highly-rated on Trip Advisor, here’s how one recent visitor described his experience:
“Looking to escape the touristy excesses of Miami Beach, and the crowds that want to be part of a non-scene, we went to this restaurant, which felt more like a comfortable, established neighbourhood eatery than a holiday place. This made us happy, and was highly recommended by our concierge at the Fontainbleau, who understood our wishes. We loved it… the staff were knowledgeable about the food, and as authentic as the restaurant itself. There were no airs… Just great food, and a very good wine list. I may say that I have never tasted carbonara like this…. Superlative! Our waiter informed us of the way that it was made, and now we understood what was missing in the same dish that we have at home. We’ll start making it with onions next time, then add the rest of the ingredients… We learned the secret. The eggplant parmigiana was also wonderful. Delicate, flavourful, and on-spot. This was a great escape from Miami’s social heat!”
